Academy of Arts Mexico originally started out as Ballet Folklorico Mexico, an after school program at Ed Cody Elementary taught by husband and wife duo, Jorge and Nina Pimentel. This program originally started out with 15 students and quickly grew to about 55 students. Unfortunately, seven years later the grant which funded the program was cut and Ballet Folklorico Mexico was terminated. With the help of the parents and administration, Nina and Jorge were able to continue the program for another three years.

In January 2015, they created Academy of Arts Mexico, an arts school dedicated to teaching their students about dance, music, and fitness of the body and mind. Their motto “A town without art is a town without soul,” sums up their mission very well. Art, of all forms, helps us grow as well rounded people with dedication, heart, and poise.
